B2747 Ford Tempo Diagnostic Trouble Code
B2747 Ford Tempo code definition:
B2747 is a kind of OBD-II Diagnostic B-Body Diagnostic Trouble Code for Ford Tempo.
B2747 Ford Tempo is described as Fuel System Too Rich, which basically means bank 1's oxygen sensor has detected a rich condition of fuel. This means there's not enough oxygen in the exhaust from too much fuel being delivered into the air and gas mixture for combusion. The spark should have a light tan color. If the sensor probe comes with white and chalky parts, this means it has been lagging between switching phases, and should be replaced.
Symptoms
Symptoms of a B2747 Ford Tempo diagnostic trouble code may include:
- Faulty or damaged wiring
- The engine oil will exhibit dilution from the ECUs attempts to increase engine temperature. Some vehicles advance the fuel injection timing slightly after top center to afterburn a small amount of fuel to increase exhaust temperatures. Some of this fuel enters the crankcase. When the ECU determines the necessity to regenerate the DPF, the service life of the oil be shortened significantly
- Poor fuel economy
- Reduction in engine performance, especially at low RPM levels

Possible Causes :
- A faulty oxygen sensor. This will set a code in itself, however, a faulty oxygen sensor does not automatically condemn the sensor. The code just means that the sensor signal was not within specifications. An air leak or any of the above will cause an erroneous signal. There is a multitude of O2 codes relating to O2 performance which gives a clue to the problematic area.
- Some aftermarket accessories and performance modifications
- A large vacuum leak would cause a massive amount of un-metered air to enter the intake manifold resulting in an overly lean mixture.

Common Misdiagnoses
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Valve 1 Problem
- BBV Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Problem
- Transmission Engaged At High Throttle Angle Problem
- Cruise Inhibit Control Circuit Problem
- TFP Valve Position Switch-Drive Without Drive Ratio Problem
Repair Processes :
With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground.
Use the DVOM to test resistance and continuity on all system circuits if actuator and sensor resistance levels are in compliance with manufacturer's specifications.
Look at the plug wires to make sure they are not burnt or laying on the exhaust.
