P0097 Venturi Atlantique Diagnostic Trouble Code

P0097 Venturi Atlantique code definition:
P0097 is a kind of OBD-II Diagnostic P-Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code for Venturi Atlantique.

P0097 Venturi Atlantique is described as Oxygen Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Bank 2 Sensor 1. This code appears when the PCM (powertrain control module, also known as ECM or engine control module in other brands) remains at or close the 0.450 set voltage point. There are two wires dedicated for each coil; one is battery feed which usually comes from the distribution center, and the other one for the coil driver circuit from the PCM. The PCM grounds or ungrounds the circuit to activate or deactivate the coil.

Symptoms of a P0097 Venturi Atlantique diagnostic trouble code may include:
Place of P0097 in engine

Possible Causes :

  • Some aftermarket accessories and performance modifications
  • A faulty oxygen sensor. This will set a code in itself, however, a faulty oxygen sensor does not automatically condemn the sensor. The code just means that the sensor signal was not within specifications. An air leak or any of the above will cause an erroneous signal. There is a multitude of O2 codes relating to O2 performance which gives a clue to the problematic area.
  • Rarely - faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM-programming required after replacement)

Common Misdiagnoses

  1. Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Valve 1 Problem
  2. BBV Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Problem
  3. Transmission Engaged At High Throttle Angle Problem
  4. Cruise Inhibit Control Circuit Problem
  5. TFP Valve Position Switch-Drive Without Drive Ratio Problem

Repair Processes :

If the engine displays a miss and there wasn't a code, determine which cylinder is misfiring. If the exhaust manifold is visible, spay or pour a small amount of water on each cylinder exhaust port. Water will evaporate immediately on good cylinders and slowly on the missing cylinder. If this can't be accomplished pull the plugs and check the condition. With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground. If you find a related TSB, the information will often help in diagnosing the code in question as TSBs are crested from many thousands of repairs.
