B0166 Simca 1300 code definition:
B0166 is a kind of OBD-II Diagnostic B-Body Diagnostic Trouble Code for Simca 1300.

B0166 Simca 1300 is described as Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Circuit Malfunction. It's actually a general trouble code for a problem on IAT electrical circuit sensor, as it sends incorrect voltage input signals to the PCM. This is because the barometric pressure sensor is part of the MAF sensor. Sometimes, the MAF's sensing wire can accumulate and get covered with dirt, dust and/or oil residue, which can also lead to the error code.

Symptoms

Symptoms of a B0166 Simca 1300 diagnostic trouble code may include:
Place of B0166 in engine

Possible Causes :

  • Faulty IMRC actuator relay (if equipped)
  • A large air leak at or near the number one oxygen sensor would also cause a lean mixture.
  • Rarely - faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM-programming required after replacement)

Common Misdiagnoses

  1. Vehicle Speed Output Circuit Problem
  2. Cruise Control Servo Indicates Low Problem
  3. A/C System High Pressure High Temperature Problem
  4. PCM Stack Overrun Problem
  5. Transmission Control Module Reprogrammable Memory Problem

Repair Processes :

Check to make sure they are not burnt or corroded. If in doubt, get some Electrical Contact cleaner at any parts store if cleaning of the terminals is needed. With the valve disconnected, the red voltmeter lead should be attached to the IMRC valve power wire and the black voltmeter lead connected to ground. If the engine displays a miss and there wasn't a code, determine which cylinder is misfiring. If the exhaust manifold is visible, spay or pour a small amount of water on each cylinder exhaust port. Water will evaporate immediately on good cylinders and slowly on the missing cylinder. If this can't be accomplished pull the plugs and check the condition.
